How does Ventipulmin Syrup work?

Ventipulmin Syrup contains the active ingredient, Clenbuterol HCl, which quickly reaches lung tissue concentration to provide relief. The syrup causes smooth muscles in the airway to relax, allowing for bronchodilation, which helps decrease resistance in the respiratory pathway and increase airflow to the lungs. Ventipulmin Syrup also decreases the thickness of mucus to help improve respiratory airflow.

Cautions:

The effect on reproduction in breeding stallions and brood mares hasn't been determined. Treatment starting with dosages higher than the initial dose isn't recommended. Do not use in pregnant mares near term. Avoid use in horses suspected of having cardiovascular impairment because tachycardia may occur.

Ventipulmin Syrup requires a prescription from your veterinarian. It helps horses with respiratory diseases, like COPD, breathe easier. Use of Ventipulmin Syrup should be avoided in horses suspected of having cardiovascular impairment because tachycardia may occur. Ventipulmin is available as 72.5 mcg/ml in a 100 ml bottle and a 330 ml bottle. The recommended duration of Ventipulmin Syrup treatment is 30 days. Ventipulmin Syrup starts working as quickly as within 1 hour of administration.

What should I discuss with my veterinarian before giving Ventipulmin Syrup to my horse?

Tell your veterinarian if your horse has a history of cardiovascular impairment. Tell your veterinarian if your mare is pregnant or if you plan to breed your mare or stallion. Your vet should know if your horse is currently taking any other medications.

How should Ventipulmin Syrup be given?

Ventipulmin Syrup should be given exactly as directed by your veterinarian. Administer orally twice a day. The initial dosage is 0.5 ml per 100 lbs for 3 days (6 treatments). If there is no improvement, administer 1.0 ml per 100 lbs for 3 days (6 treatments). If there is no improvement, administer 1.5 ml per 100 lbs for 3 days (6 treatments). If there is no improvement, administer 2.0 ml per 100 lbs for 3 days (6 treatments). If there is no improvement, your horse is non-responsive to clenbuterol and treatment should be discontinued. The recommended duration of treatment at the effective dose is 30 days. At the end of the 30-day treatment period, Ventipulmin Syrup should be withdrawn to determine any recurrence of signs. If signs return, the 30-day treatment regimen may be repeated.

What are the potential side effects of Ventipulmin Syrup?

Side effects of Ventipulmin Syrup can include mild sweating, muscle tremor, restlessness, and urticaria, and tachycardia may be observed in some horses during the first few days of treatment. Ventipulmin Syrup may cause elevated creatine kinase (CK) serum levels.

What happens if I miss giving a dose of Ventipulmin Syrup?

Give the next dose as soon as you remember. If it is too close to the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume a normal dosing schedule. Do not give a double dose of Ventipulmin Syrup to your horse.
