    Ketofen contains the active ingredient, Ketoprofen, which is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agent that helps alleviate pain and inflammation in horses.

    For intravenous use in horses only. This product should not be used in breeding animals since the effects of Ketofen on fertility, pregnancy or fetal health in horses have not been determined. Studies to determine activity of Ketofen when administered concomitantly with other drugs have not been conducted.     Ketofen is recommended for the alleviation of inflammation and pain associated with musculoskeletal disorders in horses and requires a prescription from your veterinarian. Each mL of Ketofen (ketoprofen) contains 100 mg of ketoprofen in an aqueous formulation containing: L-Arginine, 70 mg; citric acid (to adjust pH); benzyl alcohol, 0.025 g (as preservative).

    What should I discuss with my veterinarian before giving Ketofen to my pet?

    Let your veterinarian know if your horse is pregnant, intended for breeding or taking any other medications. Tell your veterinarian if your horse has a history of hypersensitivity to Ketofen or other non-steroidal medications.

    How should Ketofen be administered?

    Ketofen should be administered by intravenous injection. Follow your veterinarians instructions exactly as directed. The recommended dosage is 1 mg/lb of body weight once daily. Treatment may be repeated for up to five days. Effects of Ketofen start to work within two hours with peak response by 12 hours.

    What are the potential side effects of Ketofen?

    During investigational studies, no significant side effects were reported.

    What happens if I miss giving a dose of Ketofen?

    Give the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is close to the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume a normal dosing schedule.
